Luke 24:44-53 Acts 1:4-14

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Y’all, this verse, Acts 1:8 tells us what the church should be doing today. We are to be witnesses to our Savior Jesus Christ starting here where we live and then extending outward.

This is not a job for just the preacher or a few select members of the church. The entire church must do this. Remember last week when we talked about Luke 14? In verse 21, Jesus told His disciples, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Being witnesses to Christ is not a suggestion from Him! It is a commandment! You shall be, not you can if you want to, not you should if you feel like it or if you are comfortable doing it, but you shall be witness. "He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me." John 14:21

In 1858, a revival started that spread across America. Within two years, one million people came to Christ. This revival started with The Fulton Street prayer meeting where six people committed themselves to praying for revival.

19th century pastor/missionary A. T. Pierson said, “There has never been a revival in any country that has not begun in united prayer, and no revival has ever continued beyond the duration of those prayer meetings.

What can we do as we wait to gather together? We can pray. We can commit to gather together in Spirit at set times to pray. Pray for boldness to be the witnesses to Christ that we are called to be. Pray that we can put aside our fear and start asking people if they know Jesus. Pray that we can be the people that God needs to grow the Kingdom. Pray for our church. Pray that we can be the church that God needs us to be.

I'll be praying every night at 7:00 pm for these things and for all of you. Join me in spirit and let God hear our voices unite!
